Job Title: Activities Assistant
General Description:
The Activities Assistant has the responsibility of assisting with organizing, conducting, and evaluating all planned activities for the facility. The program of activities shall be written, planned, kept up-to-date and made available to all residents.
Days and Hours on Duty: Part time/ Monday - Wednesday/ 8:30am-5pm
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Activities Assistant contributes to the development, coordination, and delivery of engaging activity programs that enhance the quality of life for residents.
- Socialization: achieved through various community programs and events such as birthdays and holidays at the facility, resident council meetings, card games, and community outings as well as singing, watching favorite movies, videos, music, arts, and crafts.
- Activities of Daily Living Depending on the resident’s needs and capabilities, staff will collaborate with individual residents to achieve the highest level of functioning.
- Physical Activities: Activities such as stretching, weight bearing, and other physical games depending on the resident’s tolerance and physician’s recommendation to improve or maintain flexibility, balance, mobility, strength, and endurance.
- Personal Activities and Free Time: Residents will be encouraged to engage in activities of their own choosing.
- Education activities: The activities calendar will include classes available at the Senior Center, local library, and special education programs scheduled at the community.
- Resident Participation: Will be achieved by having residents help in planning preparation and evaluation of activities.
- Religious Activities: Ensures residents have a choice in religious/worship options in the community.
- Outdoor activities: Are made available in the outdoor courtyard.
- Indoor activities: Both the Activity room and other rooms as designated for indoor activities.
- Will ensure be all equipment and supplies to meet the requirements of the activity program including access to reading materials and current magazines are up to date and available.
- Will ensure there are special equipment and supplies necessary to accommodate physically handicapped persons or other persons with special needs.
